An interaction of colour and form, and an exploration of this relationship.
Working with an abstract rendering of shapes, the artist Tanja Schaub sets out to convey the beauty and complexity of nature in her work. Her artworks are deliberately ambiguous in content, an effect generated by her active utilisation of negative space. The block colours stand in contrast to the fluid production of her gestural movement, and also attests to her background in graphic design. Furthermore, the forms’ creative process derives from her own physicality; her works begin as imagined forms, which she then draws on her phone screen using her fingers. Merging the digital and hand-drawn, her pieces are marks from gestural movement that references paper cut-outs.
